Melissa A. San Miguel is president of Red Flag USA. Red Flag Global is the North American Meat Institute’s strategic communications partner, including in support of the Protein PACT for the People, Animals & Climate of Tomorrow. As president of Red Flag USA, Melissa develops and executes strategies to help some of the world’s leading companies and industry associations succeed in priorities ranging from health and nutrition to international trade. Melissa has extensive experience as a diplomat, trade negotiator, and industry association leader. Prior to joining Red Flag, Melissa was senior director for global strategies at the Grocery Manufacturers Association in Washington D.C. She began her career in the U.S. Department of State, serving at U.S. embassies in Honduras, Jamaica, and Brazil and most recently as special assistant to the under secretary of state for economic growth, energy, and the environment.
